Madden NFL 2001 was the first series entry released on which Sony console?
Answer
PlayStation 2
Answer
PlayStation 2
Madden NFL 2001 was the first Madden series entry released on Sony’s PlayStation 2 console.
The game launched in 2000 during the transition from the original PlayStation to Sony’s next-generation system. It was released across several platforms, including PlayStation, Nintendo 64, Game Boy Color, Windows, and PlayStation 2. The PlayStation 2 version therefore did not replace the original PlayStation edition; it marked the series’ first appearance on Sony’s newer console.
Madden NFL 2001 also represented an important packaging change: Tennessee Titans running back Eddie George became the first NFL player featured prominently on the box instead of John Madden. The game introduced NFL Europe teams and included modes such as franchise play, create-a-player, and Madden Cards. The PlayStation Portable and PlayStation 3 did not yet exist as Madden platforms for this release, making PlayStation 2 the canonical answer.
