J.K. Rowling’s charity book Quidditch Through the Ages was first published in 2001.
The book is presented as a history of the wizarding sport of Quidditch and is credited in the fictional world to Kennilworthy Whisp. In reality, Rowling wrote it as a companion volume to the Harry Potter novels.
It was published alongside Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, with proceeds supporting Comic Relief. The two slim books imitate school-library texts and add humorous background details to the Wizarding World.
Quidditch Through the Ages is not one of Rowling’s seven Harry Potter novels. It is a supplementary work, and its mock-scholarly style explains the sport’s equipment, teams, rules, and historical development.
