In which year did J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter series conclude with its seventh novel?

The story behind the answer

J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter series concluded with its seventh novel in 2007.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows was published on 21 July 2007. It completed the main story of Harry’s conflict with Lord Voldemort and followed the six earlier novels that began with Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone in 1997. The publication was a major international event, with midnight release celebrations in many countries.

The final novel’s title refers to three legendary magical objects: the Elder Wand, the Resurrection Stone, and the Invisibility Cloak. Harry, Ron Weasley, and Hermione Granger spend much of the story away from Hogwarts while searching for Horcruxes.

The later stage-play script Harry Potter and the Cursed Child was published in 2016, but it is not the seventh novel and was not written as one of the original seven books. The film adaptation of Deathly Hallows was split into two parts, released in 2010 and 2011.
