In which year did J.K. Rowling publish The Cuckoo’s Calling under the name Robert Galbraith?

The story behind the answer

J.K. Rowling published The Cuckoo’s Calling under the name Robert Galbraith in 2013.

The novel appeared in April 2013 and introduced Cormoran Strike, a private detective investigating the death of model Lula Landry. At publication, Robert Galbraith was presented as a new crime writer with relevant military-police experience.

Rowling’s authorship was exposed in July 2013 after an analysis of the book’s language and style helped identify her. The revelation produced a dramatic increase in sales and made the novel an unusual publishing story: it had received positive reviews before the public knew the famous author behind it.

The book launched the Strike series. Later novels include The Silkworm, Career of Evil, Lethal White, Troubled Blood, The Ink Black Heart, and The Running Grave. The series continues to use the Robert Galbraith author name.
