In which parish of Jamaica is Bob Marley's birthplace located?

The story behind the answer

In which parish of Jamaica is Bob Marley's birthplace located? His birthplace is in Saint Ann Parish.

Bob Marley was born on 6 February 1945 at his maternal grandfather's farm in Nine Mile, a rural community in Saint Ann Parish. The area later became closely associated with Marley, who was buried there in 1981 and is commemorated by the Bob Marley Mausoleum. Nine Mile is therefore both a birthplace and an important pilgrimage site for fans.

Saint Ann is often called Jamaica's “Garden Parish.” It is one of the island's historic regions and includes attractions such as Dunn's River Falls, Discovery Bay and Ocho Rios. The parish is also known for producing several notable Jamaican musicians, including Burning Spear and Marcus Garvey.

A frequent mistake is choosing Kingston because Marley spent much of his youth in Kingston's Trenchtown and built his career there. Kingston was central to his music, but it was not the parish of his birth. Saint Ann identifies the rural birthplace; Kingston identifies the urban setting of his formative musical life.
