In which city did Bob Marley record the album 'Exodus'?

The story behind the answer

Bob Marley recorded the album Exodus in London.

The album took shape after an assassination attempt at Marley’s Kingston home on 3 December 1976. He performed at the scheduled Smile Jamaica concert two days later, then left Jamaica and settled temporarily in England. During this self-imposed exile, Marley and the Wailers recorded Exodus at Island Studios in Notting Hill, London.

Island Studios was later renamed Basing Street Studios. Marley lived in an apartment above the former church building, giving the recording sessions an unusually close connection to his London surroundings. The album blended reggae with elements of soul, blues, funk, and British rock, helping it reach listeners far beyond Jamaica.

Exodus was released on 3 June 1977 and became one of Marley’s defining records. Its tracks include “Exodus,” “Jamming,” “Waiting in Vain,” “Three Little Birds,” and “One Love/People Get Ready.” Kingston is sometimes chosen because Marley was Jamaican and had recorded earlier work there, but Exodus specifically belongs to his London period.
