The first Lanterns teaser was shown in São Paulo, Brazil, at an HBO Max presentation.
The footage debuted at an HBO Max upfront presentation held in São Paulo on November 25, 2025. It was an early public look at the series before the teaser became available online. The presentation introduced audiences to the show’s restrained visual style and its emphasis on the relationship between veteran Lantern Hal Jordan and recruit John Stewart.
The teaser was later released online on March 4, 2026. Early reactions focused on its detective-story tone and its resemblance to the grounded crime drama True Detective. The series was created to combine Green Lantern mythology with an Earth-based murder investigation, primarily set in Nebraska, rather than functioning as a conventional space opera.
