J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter pseudonym Robert Galbraith was publicly revealed in 2013.
Rowling published The Cuckoo’s Calling under the Galbraith name in April 2013. The book received attention as a debut crime novel before a legal dispute and subsequent reporting exposed the author’s identity.
The revelation did not end the Cormoran Strike series. Rowling continued writing the novels under the Robert Galbraith byline, allowing the detective fiction to retain a distinct identity from Harry Potter.
The event is often confused with the date of the first Strike novel. Both the book’s publication and the public confirmation of Rowling’s authorship occurred in 2013, but the discovery followed the book’s initial release.
