In what year did the Airbus A330 first fly?
Answer
1992
Answer
1992
The Airbus A330 first flew in 1992.
The A330 prototype took off on 2 November 1992, beginning the flight-test program for Airbus’s new twin-engine wide-body family. The first production variant, the A330-300, entered commercial service with Air Inter in January 1994. The shorter A330-200 followed later and became important on medium- and long-haul routes.
The A330 was developed alongside the four-engine A340, and the two aircraft share a common fuselage cross-section, cockpit design and wing architecture. Their main visible difference is the number of engines. The A330 remains distinct from the newer composite A350, which Airbus designed as a later-generation wide-body aircraft with different structures and systems.
