J.K. Rowling published The Tales of Beedle the Bard in 2007.
The collection is presented as a set of five wizarding fairy tales mentioned in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. In that story, Albus Dumbledore leaves Hermione Granger a copy of the book, and one tale contains clues connected with the Deathly Hallows.
The real-world edition appeared shortly after the final Harry Potter novel. Rowling wrote and illustrated the collection, and proceeds from the original publication supported the Children’s High Level Group, a charity later known as Lumos.
A frequent source of confusion is the difference between the fictional book’s role and the real publication date. Beedle’s tales exist inside the wizarding world as an old magical text, but Rowling’s standalone collection was released in 2007. The book contains five stories, including “The Tale of the Three Brothers.”
