In what year did J.K. Rowling publish the final main Harry Potter novel, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows?

The story behind the answer

J.K. Rowling published Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows in 2007.

The seventh and final main Harry Potter novel was released on 21 July 2007. It concludes Harry’s conflict with Lord Voldemort and follows Harry, Ron Weasley, and Hermione Granger as they search for Horcruxes rather than returning to Hogwarts for a conventional school year.

The book achieved enormous commercial success. Its publication was preceded by intense secrecy, and midnight release events were held in many countries. The English-language first printing was exceptionally large for a novel, reflecting the scale of the series’ readership.

The year is sometimes confused with 2005, when Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince was published, or with 2016, when the script for Harry Potter and the Cursed Child was published. Deathly Hallows is the final novel in Rowling’s original seven-book series.
