In what Jamaican village is Bob Marley buried?

The story behind the answer

Bob Marley is buried in Nine Mile, a village in Saint Ann Parish, Jamaica. His mausoleum stands near the house where he was born and is one of the island’s best-known sites connected with his life and legacy.

Marley was born in Nine Mile on February 6, 1945. Although he spent important parts of his childhood in Kingston and later lived abroad, the rural village remained central to his personal mythology and spiritual identity. Its landscape and community helped shape memories that informed his music and public image.

After Marley died in Miami on May 11, 1981, his body was returned to Jamaica for a state funeral and burial in Nine Mile. He rests in a marble mausoleum with his guitar, near the mausoleum of his mother, Cedella Booker. Visitors sometimes confuse Nine Mile with Kingston because Kingston was the center of Marley’s recording career and the location of the Bob Marley Museum, but his final resting place is in Saint Ann Parish.
