In the Pokémon TV series, Professor Kukui’s Pokémon School is in Alola.
The Alola region is the main setting of Pokémon the Series: Sun & Moon. Ash attends the Pokémon School on Melemele Island, where Professor Kukui teaches him and his classmates about Pokémon, battles, fieldwork, and regional traditions.
The school replaces the more travel-focused structure seen in many earlier Pokémon series. Ash remains based in one location while completing the island challenge and exploring the four major islands. His classmates include Lana, Mallow, Kiawe, Sophocles, and Lillie.
Alola is made up of several island environments and has distinctive regional forms of familiar Pokémon. It is also the setting where Ash wins his first official regional Pokémon League conference, the Manalo Conference. The region should not be confused with Kanto, where Ash’s original journey begins.
