In the Pokémon TV series, the egg carried by Misty hatches into Togepi.
Misty receives the mysterious Pokémon Egg during the original series, and several characters become interested in which Pokémon will emerge from it. The egg eventually hatches into Togepi in the episode “Who Gets to Keep Togepi?” Because Togepi immediately chooses Misty, she becomes its primary companion and caretaker.
Togepi’s appearance was significant for the anime because it introduced a Pokémon that was not yet widely known from the games at the time. Togepi was associated with the second-generation Pokémon games, Pokémon Gold and Silver, which were released in Japan in 1999.
Viewers sometimes confuse Togepi’s egg with other Pokémon eggs shown later in the series. The defining detail is Misty’s role: she carries this particular egg and becomes Togepi’s trainer after it hatches.
