In the Pokémon TV series, Ash begins his journey in Pallet Town.
Pallet Town is a small settlement in the Kanto region and the home of Ash Ketchum. It is also the location of Professor Oak’s Pokémon laboratory, where new Trainers receive their first Pokémon. Ash leaves from Pallet Town at the start of the anime after receiving Pikachu.
The town is associated with several important characters, including Gary Oak and Delia Ketchum. Its name and design connect it with the beginning of the original Pokémon adventure, even though most of Ash’s later stories take place elsewhere.
Viridian City is the first major city Ash reaches on his journey, so it is a common mix-up. New Bark Town belongs to the Johto setting and is the starting point for the games’ Johto protagonists.
