In the Pokémon TV series, what is the name of the region introduced in Pokémon the Series: Ruby and Sapphire?

The story behind the answer

In the Pokémon TV series, Pokémon the Series: Ruby and Sapphire introduces the Hoenn region.

Hoenn is the setting for Ash’s third major journey and is based on the setting of the Pokémon Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald games. After leaving the Orange Islands and traveling through Johto, Ash begins exploring Hoenn with Pikachu and new companions May and Max.

The region features locations such as Littleroot Town, Rustboro City, Mauville City, and Ever Grande City. Ash competes in the Hoenn Pokémon League, while May pursues Pokémon Contests and develops as a Coordinator.

Hoenn is sometimes confused with Sinnoh because both regions receive substantial anime story arcs after the original series. Sinnoh is the setting of the later Diamond and Pearl series.
