In The Lord of the Rings film trilogy, Sean Bean plays Boromir.

Bean portrays Boromir, the eldest son of Denethor and a captain of Gondor, in The Fellowship of the Ring. Boromir joins the Fellowship at Rivendell and initially hopes that the Ring could be used against Sauron. His desire to protect Gondor eventually becomes entangled with the Ring’s corrupting power.

The character’s arc culminates at Amon Hen, where he tries to take the Ring from Frodo before recognizing his failure. He then defends Merry and Pippin from the Uruk-hai, receiving several arrow wounds. His final conversation with Aragorn is one of the trilogy’s most memorable dramatic scenes.

Sean Bean is also widely known for playing Eddard Stark in Game of Thrones and Alec Trevelyan in GoldenEye. Boromir is his only major role across the three main Lord of the Rings films.
