In The Lord of the Rings film trilogy, what is the name of the sword reforged from the shards of Narsil?

The story behind the answer

In The Lord of the Rings film trilogy, the sword reforged from the shards of Narsil is named Andúril.

Narsil was the sword used by Isildur to cut the One Ring from Sauron’s hand during the Second Age. The blade broke in that battle, and its shards were preserved by Isildur’s heirs. The broken sword becomes a symbol of the royal line of Gondor.

Before Aragorn travels through the Paths of the Dead, the shards are reforged as Andúril, Flame of the West. The new sword helps establish Aragorn’s identity and claim to kingship. It is not the same weapon as Sting, Frodo’s short Elvish blade, or Glamdring, Gandalf’s sword. Andúril’s significance comes from its history, its connection to Isildur, and its role as the heirloom of the returned king.
