In The Lego Movie, what is the name of the main character? The main character is Emmet. His full name is Emmet Joseph Brickowski, and he begins the film as an ordinary construction worker living in the highly regulated city of Bricksburg.
Emmet’s routine changes when he discovers the Piece of Resistance, an artifact connected to an ancient prophecy. He is then mistaken for “The Special,” a uniquely important figure who may be able to stop Lord Business from using the Kragle to freeze the Lego world permanently. Although Emmet initially lacks confidence and special skills, his willingness to cooperate and imagine new possibilities makes him an unlikely hero.
The film, released in 2014, was directed by Phil Lord and Christopher Miller and uses Lego characters and settings to tell a fast-moving adventure about creativity, conformity, and collaboration. Common mix-ups include Wyldstyle, Emmet’s highly capable ally and eventual romantic partner; Vitruvius, the prophetic Master Builder; and Batman, one of the film’s prominent supporting characters. None of them is the story’s central protagonist: that role belongs to Emmet.
