In the 2016 film Train to Busan, the train carrying Seok-woo and his daughter is bound for Busan.
Seok-woo boards the KTX high-speed train in Seoul with his daughter Su-an so she can visit her mother in Busan. Shortly after departure, an infected passenger brings the zombie outbreak onto the train, turning the journey into a fight for survival inside confined carriages.
The route matters because Busan is initially described as a possible safe area while the outbreak spreads across South Korea. The characters must move through the train from carriage to carriage, dealing with both the infected and the fear of passengers who do not know whom to trust.
The film was directed by Yeon Sang-ho and released in South Korea in 2016. Its title refers to the train journey itself, while the sequel Peninsula expands the setting beyond the original train story.
