In the 2013 film World War Z, which actor plays Gerry Lane?

Brad Pitt plays Gerry Lane in the 2013 film World War Z.

Gerry Lane is a former United Nations investigator who is drawn back into service when a global zombie outbreak threatens civilization. Pitt’s character travels between countries searching for information that could explain the infected creatures’ behavior and help humanity respond.

The film is loosely based on Max Brooks’s 2006 novel World War Z, but the movie uses a different protagonist and a more immediate action-thriller structure. Marc Forster directed the film, and Mireille Enos plays Gerry’s wife, Karin Lane.

The title can suggest a conventional military war movie, but the story focuses on an international biological catastrophe and the race to discover a weakness in the infection. Pitt also produced the film through his production company, Plan B Entertainment, alongside his starring role.
