Juan is the first name of the Cuban hero in the 2011 film Juan of the Dead.
The Spanish-language comedy follows Juan and his friend Lázaro as Havana is overwhelmed by zombies. Juan responds by creating a paid service that claims to eliminate infected relatives and neighbors, turning the crisis into an absurd business opportunity.
Alejandro Brugués directed the film, which was produced as a Cuban-Spanish co-production. Its title deliberately echoes Shaun of the Dead while giving the story a distinct Cuban setting and political satire. The protagonist's full name is Juan de los Muertos, meaning “Juan of the Dead,” but the short canonical character name is Juan.
