LuminAID created the portable inflatable solar lantern that appeared on Shark Tank.
LuminAID was founded by architects Anna Stork and Andrea Sreshtha. They developed the inflatable lantern after the 2010 Haiti earthquake, seeking a lightweight light source that could be shipped efficiently and used in disaster-relief settings.
The lantern is inflatable, waterproof, and powered by solar energy. When deflated, it can be stored and transported in a relatively flat form; when inflated, it provides a soft light for homes, camps, and emergency situations.
The company’s Shark Tank appearance introduced the product to a wider consumer audience. LuminAID is sometimes confused with ordinary camping lantern brands, but its combination of inflation, solar charging, and disaster-relief origins distinguishes it from standard battery-powered lights.
