Raccoon City is placed under quarantine after the viral outbreak in Resident Evil: Apocalypse.
The 2004 film expands the setting of the first Resident Evil movie from the underground Hive facility to the wider city above it. The T-virus has escaped into Raccoon City, turning residents into zombies and creating other bioengineered threats. Authorities seal the city in an effort to contain the disaster.
Milla Jovovich returns as Alice, who works with other survivors while the Umbrella Corporation attempts to control the crisis. The quarantine storyline also introduces a large-scale urban setting, including streets, hospitals, churches, and abandoned buildings.
Raccoon City is a fictional location created for the Resident Evil video-game universe. It is not Raccoon County, a frequent mistaken answer, although the fictional city is associated with the Umbrella Corporation’s operations in the region. The film was directed by Alexander Witt.
