Resident Evil 6 has four main story campaigns.
The campaigns follow Leon S. Kennedy, Chris Redfield, Jake Muller, and Ada Wong. Leon’s, Chris’s, and Jake’s campaigns can be played cooperatively and cover overlapping events from different viewpoints. Ada’s campaign is designed primarily as a single-player experience and fills in additional story information.
The four campaigns are connected rather than being completely separate games. Their timelines overlap during a global bioterrorist crisis, and scenes or events can be understood differently depending on which character’s route the player follows. This structure is one of Resident Evil 6’s defining features.
Capcom released Resident Evil 6 in 2012 for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, with a Windows version following in 2013. The game combines survival-horror elements with more action-oriented combat, including shooting, melee attacks, dodging, and cooperative play. Its campaign format makes it distinct from entries centered on one primary protagonist.
