Chris Redfield’s mission in Resident Evil 5 takes place in the fictional African region of Kijuju.
Chris travels to Kijuju as an agent of the Bioterrorism Security Assessment Alliance, or BSAA. He is partnered with Sheva Alomar while investigating biological weapons activity and the apparent return of Albert Wesker.
Kijuju is presented as a West African setting containing towns, marshes, ancient ruins, mines, and Umbrella-related research sites. The region’s varied environments form the game’s main campaign locations.
Kijuju is fictional, so it should not be treated as the name of a real African country. Other Resident Evil titles use fictional regions too, including Edonia in Resident Evil 6 and Lanshiang in that game’s China-based campaign.
