In Pokémon the Series: XY, the main setting for Ash’s journey is the Kalos region.
Kalos is the region introduced in Pokémon X and Y and serves as the principal location for the XY anime series. Ash travels there with Pikachu and meets Serena, Clemont, and Bonnie. His journey includes collecting eight Gym Badges while preparing for the Kalos League.
The region’s visual design draws heavily on France, and several locations echo French geography and architecture. Lumiose City, one of Kalos’s most prominent cities, is centered around Prism Tower and serves as Clemont’s Gym location. Ash also encounters many newly introduced Pokémon, including Froakie, Fletchling, and Goodra.
The Kalos arc is especially known for Ash’s close partnership with Greninja and the Bond Phenomenon. It also features Serena’s Pokémon Showcases, a performance-focused competition distinct from Ash’s Gym battles and League matches.
