In Pokémon the Series: Sun & Moon, Ash and his classmates attend the Pokémon School.
The school is located on Melemele Island in the Alola region. Professor Kukui serves as one of its principal instructors, teaching students about Pokémon research, battling, fieldwork, and island traditions. The setting gives the Sun & Moon series a different structure from earlier Pokémon anime seasons, which usually followed Ash as he traveled from town to town.
Ash’s classmates include Lana, Mallow, Kiawe, Sophocles, and Lillie. They study together while also completing practical activities, including Island Challenge trials and Pokémon battles. The school therefore functions as both a classroom and a recurring base for the characters.
A common mix-up is calling it an academy or confusing it with Professor Kukui’s home. The official English name used in the series is simply Pokémon School. The school also appears in the later Pokémon the Series: Sun & Moon—Ultra Adventures and Sun & Moon—Ultra Legends arcs.
