In Pixar’s Cars, who directed the 2006 animated feature?
Answer
John Lasseter
Answer
John Lasseter
John Lasseter directed Pixar’s Cars, released in 2006.
Lasseter co-directed Toy Story and directed A Bug’s Life and Toy Story 2 before making Cars. The film marked Pixar’s move into a world populated entirely by anthropomorphic vehicles, while retaining the studio’s emphasis on character-driven storytelling and computer animation.
Cars follows rookie race car Lightning McQueen, who becomes stranded in the small desert town of Radiator Springs. Its story combines a sports-racing plot with themes about friendship, humility, and the changing American road landscape.
The film was co-directed by Joe Ranft, who also contributed to the story and voiced several characters. Ranft died in a 2005 car accident before the film was released, and Cars was dedicated to his memory. Brad Bird and Pete Docter directed other Pixar films, but neither directed Cars.
