In Pixar's Cars, which character is voiced by Paul Newman?
Answer
Doc Hudson
Answer
Doc Hudson
In Pixar's Cars, Doc Hudson is voiced by Paul Newman.
Doc is the elderly judge and doctor of Radiator Springs, but the film gradually reveals that he was once a celebrated race car. His past identity was the Fabulous Hudson Hornet, a three-time Piston Cup champion who retired after a serious crash and public rejection.
Paul Newman, an accomplished actor and former race-car enthusiast, supplied Doc's voice. His interest in motorsport made the role especially fitting. Newman had competed professionally, including at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, and he co-founded Newman/Haas Racing.
Doc's relationship with Lightning McQueen forms the emotional center of the film. At first, Doc dislikes McQueen's careless attitude, but he eventually becomes a mentor. Cars was one of Newman's final major film performances before his death in 2008.
