In Pixar’s Cars, which actor voices the retired racing champion Doc Hudson?
Answer
Paul Newman
In Pixar’s Cars, Paul Newman voices the retired racing champion Doc Hudson.
Doc Hudson is the local doctor and judge in Radiator Springs, but the film gradually reveals that he once raced as the Fabulous Hudson Hornet. His quiet personality contrasts with Lightning McQueen’s impatience and celebrity-driven confidence.
Newman was a celebrated actor and a successful real-world racing enthusiast. His interest in motorsport made him especially fitting for the role. Doc’s racing history draws on the real Hudson Hornet, a car associated with stock-car racing success in the early 1950s.
Cars was Newman’s final feature-film voice role. His performance gives Doc a measured, reflective tone, helping the character serve as both a mentor and a reminder of how fame can change over time.
