Luigi in Pixar’s Cars is a Fiat 500.
Luigi runs Luigi’s Casa Della Tires in Radiator Springs and is one of the town’s most enthusiastic residents. He is especially passionate about Ferrari racing, despite being a small Italian city car himself. His shop’s name is a playful reference to the Italian tire business and to the character’s national identity.
The Fiat 500 is an Italian rear-engined city car originally introduced by Fiat in 1957. Luigi’s animated design is based on the classic model rather than the modern Fiat 500 introduced decades later.
Luigi’s closest friend is Guido, a small forklift who works at the tire shop. Their comic partnership becomes important in Cars, particularly during the film’s climax, when Guido demonstrates a remarkable pit-stop ability and helps Lightning McQueen during the final race.
