In Pixar's Cars, what song plays during the road-trip montage with Lightning McQueen and Mack?

In Pixar's Cars, Rascal Flatts performs “Life Is a Highway” during Lightning McQueen and Mack's road-trip sequence.

The song accompanies a fast-moving montage as Lightning travels toward California for the Piston Cup finale. The country-pop recording was made specifically for the film's soundtrack and became one of its most recognizable musical features.

“Life Is a Highway” was originally written and recorded by Canadian musician Tom Cochrane in 1991. Rascal Flatts released its cover in 2006, and the version became strongly associated with Cars for a new generation of listeners.

The film also includes “Real Gone” by Sheryl Crow and “Our Town” by James Taylor. Those songs are sometimes mixed up with the road-trip track, but “Life Is a Highway” is the montage's signature number.
