In Pixar's Cars, Lightning McQueen meets Sally, Mater, and Doc Hudson in Radiator Springs.
Radiator Springs is a fictional town on historic U.S. Route 66. Lightning reaches it after accidentally damaging the road while trying to escape Sheriff, and a court order requires him to repair the damaged section before he can leave.
The town is presented as a once-thriving roadside community bypassed by a modern interstate. Its residents include Sally Carrera, a Porsche who runs the Cozy Cone Motel; Mater, a rusty tow truck; and Doc Hudson, the town's judge and former racer.
Radiator Springs is not the same as Ornament Valley, the wider region seen in Cars Land at Disney California Adventure. The fictional town combines visual inspiration from several Route 66 locations, including places in Arizona and New Mexico.
