In Pixar's Cars, what is the name of the small town where Lightning McQueen is detained?
Answer
Radiator Springs
Answer
Radiator Springs
Radiator Springs is the small town where Lightning McQueen is detained in Pixar's Cars.
After damaging the town's main road while trying to escape Sheriff, McQueen is ordered to repair it before leaving. The fictional community becomes the film's emotional center: McQueen meets residents including Mater, Sally Carrera, Flo, Ramone, and Doc Hudson, and learns that relationships matter more than winning.
Radiator Springs is presented as a once-busy roadside settlement whose fortunes declined after a bypass diverted traffic. That premise reflects the history of many American roadside towns affected by newer highways. The film connects the town with Route 66 imagery, but Radiator Springs itself is fictional. It is located in the equally fictional Carburetor County.
The town returns in Cars 2 and Cars 3, although those films spend more time outside it. Disney and Pixar also developed Cars Land at Disney California Adventure, a themed area inspired by Radiator Springs and its surrounding desert landscape.
