Sally is the town attorney of Radiator Springs and one of the settlement’s most important residents. She becomes McQueen’s guide to the town’s history and helps him understand why its disappearing businesses and bypassed roads matter to the community.
Her name is a wordplay on the Porsche Carrera name, which is used for several Porsche models and variants. In the film, Sally is a blue 2002 Porsche 911 Carrera, giving her a design that contrasts with McQueen’s purpose-built stock-car shape.
Sally is also romantically linked with McQueen, but her role is broader than that relationship. She is an advocate for Radiator Springs and supports the restoration of Route 66 tourism. The character was voiced by Bonnie Hunt in Cars.
