In Pixar’s Cars, what is the name of Lightning McQueen’s coach?
Answer
Doc Hudson
Answer
Doc Hudson
Doc Hudson is Lightning McQueen’s coach in Pixar’s Cars.
Doc initially appears to be the stern judge and town doctor of Radiator Springs, but McQueen learns that he was once a celebrated racer. Doc was a three-time Piston Cup champion before an accident ended his racing career and left him disillusioned with the sport.
After McQueen damages the town’s main road, the judge orders him to repair it. Their reluctant relationship gradually changes as Doc recognizes McQueen’s talent and teaches him techniques based on precision, control, and experience rather than reckless speed.
Doc is modeled after the Hudson Hornet, a real American car famous for its success in stock-car racing during the early 1950s. Paul Newman voiced Doc in the original film. The character’s coaching role is therefore also the bridge between McQueen’s modern racing career and the sport’s earlier history.
