In Pixar’s Cars 3, which character becomes Lightning McQueen’s new trainer?

Cruz Ramirez becomes Lightning McQueen’s new trainer in Pixar’s Cars 3.

Cruz works at the Rust-eze Racing Center, where she uses modern training methods and advanced racing technology. Lightning initially dislikes her approach because he wants to prepare in the traditional style associated with earlier racing legends.

Their relationship changes when Lightning recognizes Cruz’s own racing ability and her long-held ambition to compete. He eventually supports her, and she becomes an important successor figure within the story.

Cruz is voiced by Cristela Alonzo. Jackson Storm, voiced by Armie Hammer, serves as the younger high-tech rival who motivates Lightning to adapt. Cruz is therefore not Lightning’s rival trainer or a Radiator Springs resident; she is the racing coach who ultimately proves she belongs on the track.
