In Pixar's Cars 2, what is the name of the international race held in Japan, Italy, and Britain?

The story behind the answer

In Pixar's Cars 2, the international race held in Japan, Italy, and Britain is the World Grand Prix.

The World Grand Prix is organized by Miles Axlerod, a former oil magnate who presents the event as a celebration of alternative fuel. Its races take place in Tokyo, Porto Corsa, and London, giving Cars 2 a much broader geographic scope than the first film.

Lightning McQueen enters the event, while Mater becomes entangled in Finn McMissile and Holley Shiftwell's spy investigation. The racing competition and espionage plot run alongside each other, which is why the event is sometimes remembered simply as the film's spy backdrop.

The World Grand Prix is not the same competition as the Piston Cup. The Piston Cup is the principal stock-car racing championship associated with Lightning in the first film and later stories. Cars 2 also uses the race to introduce Francesco Bernoulli, an Italian Formula-style competitor and Lightning's major sporting rival.
