In Pixar’s Cars 2, what is the name of the global racing event?

The global racing event in Pixar’s Cars 2 is the World Grand Prix. It is organized by Miles Axlerod as a three-race international competition intended to promote Allinol alternative fuel.

The races take place in Tokyo, Porto Corsa, and London. Lightning McQueen enters the event, while Mater becomes entangled in the spy story after being mistaken for an agent. The competition gives the film a structure that connects its racing and espionage plots.

The World Grand Prix is fictional and should not be confused with Formula One’s real-world Grands Prix. Cars 2 presents its locations and race circuits in a stylized animated form. The film’s story eventually reveals that the event is part of a larger plan involving the fuel used by competing cars.
