In Pixar's 2006 film Cars, who directed the movie alongside Joe Ranft?

The story behind the answer

John Lasseter directed Pixar's 2006 film Cars alongside Joe Ranft.

Lasseter was Pixar's chief creative officer and had previously directed Toy Story and A Bug's Life. Cars became his third feature as a director and drew on his interest in automobiles, road trips, and American roadside culture. Joe Ranft, a major Pixar writer and story artist, was credited as co-director and also voiced the character Red.

Cars was Pixar's seventh feature film. Its story follows Lightning McQueen, a race car who accidentally ends up in Radiator Springs while traveling to the Piston Cup championship. The movie introduced audiences to a world populated by vehicles rather than human characters.

A common mix-up is confusing Lasseter with Brad Lewis, who directed Cars 2, or Brian Fee, who directed Cars 3. Lasseter also served as an executive producer on later Cars films, but he did not direct either sequel.
