Classified is the leader of the North Wind, an elite animal intelligence team that becomes involved with Skipper, Kowalski, Rico and Private. The North Wind’s mission brings the penguins into a wider espionage adventure involving the villainous octopus Dave.
The character’s name is a codename rather than a conventional personal name. He is voiced by Benedict Cumberbatch in the English-language film. The North Wind also includes other specialized animal agents, including a polar bear and a seal, which can make the team’s species easy to mix up.
Penguins of Madagascar is a 2014 feature spin-off of the Madagascar franchise. Although the four penguins are central characters, the film expands the world by introducing new teams and adversaries rather than focusing only on the New York zoo or the earlier island stories.
