In Madagascar 3: Europe’s Most Wanted, the circus jaguar who befriends Alex is Gia.
Gia is one of the performers in the travelling circus that the Madagascar animals join while trying to reach New York. She is a jaguar and an aerial artist, and she becomes particularly close to Alex after he joins the circus under the impression that its performance will help the group travel safely.
Gia’s friendship gives Alex a new emotional connection outside his original zoo group. She also helps him understand that the circus animals want to perform because the circus is their home, not merely a vehicle for escape.
Gia is voiced by Jessica Chastain in the English version. She should not be confused with Vitaly, the Siberian tiger whose confidence has been damaged by a failed jump, or Stefano, the enthusiastic sea lion who becomes one of the animals’ circus companions.
