Tigress is the leader of the Furious Five in Kung Fu Panda.
The Furious Five are elite kung fu masters trained by Master Shifu at the Jade Palace. The group consists of Tigress, Monkey, Mantis, Viper, and Crane. Tigress is the most serious and disciplined member, and she often acts as the team’s field leader during missions.
Angelina Jolie voices Tigress in the English-language films. The character initially distrusts Po because she believes the Dragon Warrior title should have gone to a more experienced fighter. Her attitude changes as Po proves that his unusual methods and determination can complement traditional kung fu.
The Furious Five are named after animals associated with Chinese martial-arts styles and imagery. Their teamwork is important to the series, but they are separate from the group of legendary masters called the Five, which can make the franchise’s character relationships easy to confuse.
