In J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter series, what position does Harry play on his Hogwarts Quidditch team?

The story behind the answer

Harry Potter plays Seeker for the Gryffindor Quidditch team in J.K. Rowling’s series. The Seeker’s main task is to catch the Golden Snitch, a small, fast ball whose capture usually ends the match and awards 150 points.

Harry becomes the youngest Hogwarts Quidditch player in a century when he joins the team in his first year. His flying ability and reflexes make him especially suited to the role, although matches are repeatedly complicated by fouls, curses, injuries, and interference.

The Seeker is sometimes confused with the other three positions. Chasers handle the Quaffle and score goals, the Keeper defends the goal hoops, and Beaters use bats to redirect Bludgers. The position also inspired real-world adaptations of the fictional sport.
