Harry Potter plays Seeker in J.K. Rowling’s fictional sport Quidditch.
The Seeker’s main task is to catch the Golden Snitch, a small, fast-moving ball. Catching it usually ends the match and awards the Seeker’s team 150 points, making the position exceptionally important. Harry’s unusual flying ability helps him become one of Gryffindor’s most successful players.
A Quidditch team has seven players: one Keeper, two Beaters, three Chasers, and one Seeker. Keepers defend the goal hoops, Chasers handle the Quaffle and score goals, and Beaters use bats to redirect Bludgers away from their teammates.
Harry’s position is sometimes confused with Chaser because both roles can influence scoring. However, Harry is specifically the Seeker for Gryffindor, and he also plays for the British and Irish school-level competition in the story. The sport’s rules and vocabulary are introduced throughout the Harry Potter series.
