In Friday the 13th Part VIII: Jason Takes Manhattan, Jason reaches New York City.
The 1989 film begins aboard a boat traveling from Crystal Lake toward New York. Jason Voorhees stalks the students during the voyage before the surviving characters arrive in Manhattan, where the story moves through several recognizable city locations.
Despite its title, much of the movie takes place on the boat rather than in New York City. Only a relatively short portion occurs in Manhattan, which led to a common criticism that the film spends less time in the city than the title suggests.
This is the eighth film in the original Friday the 13th series. It follows Friday the 13th Part VII: The New Blood and again features Jason as the central masked killer.
