In The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2, Stretch works for the radio station KOKLA.
Stretch is the professional name of Vanita “Stretch” Brock, a radio disc jockey in the 1986 sequel. She becomes involved after receiving a terrifying on-air call connected to the killing of two motorists. The call draws her and former Texas Ranger Lefty Enright into a renewed confrontation with the Sawyer family.
The station setting lets the film begin with a broadcast perspective before the story moves into the Sawyers’ underground lair. Caroline Williams plays Stretch, while Dennis Hopper portrays Lefty. Tobe Hooper, who directed the 1974 original, also directed the sequel.
KOKLA is a fictional station created for the film, not a real Texas broadcaster. The sequel is also notably different in tone from its predecessor: it uses exaggerated violence, dark comedy and colorful production design. That tonal shift can make details such as the station name easy to overlook.
