In the Final Destination film franchise, what is the surname of the character played by Devon Sawa in the first film?

The story behind the answer

Devon Sawa plays Alex Browning in the first Final Destination film.

Alex is a high-school student who experiences a premonition that Air France Flight 180 will explode shortly after takeoff. He panics and is removed from the plane with several classmates and a teacher before the disaster occurs.

The survivors then begin dying in a sequence that suggests Death is correcting the outcome and reclaiming those who escaped the flight. Alex becomes the group’s main investigator, trying to identify a pattern and find a way to break it.

The character’s surname is sometimes confused with the names of other franchise leads, including Kimberly Corman in Final Destination 2 and Wendy Christensen in Final Destination 3. James Wong directed the 2000 original, which grew from an unused idea for an episode of The X-Files.
