In Elden Ring, which Great Rune is obtained by defeating Rennala, Queen of the Full Moon?

In Elden Ring, defeating Rennala, Queen of the Full Moon, awards the Great Rune of the Unborn. Unlike most Great Runes, it cannot be equipped for a conventional passive combat bonus.

The rune is tied to Rennala’s egg and the process of rebirth. After the boss fight, Rennala remains at the Grand Library of Raya Lucaria and can perform character respecs when the player provides a Larval Tear. This makes the rune important for changing attribute allocation rather than for activating a battlefield effect.

A frequent mistake is expecting every Great Rune to work in the same way. Great Runes such as Godrick’s or Radahn’s can provide activated bonuses, but the Great Rune of the Unborn permanently enables rebirth through Rennala. It does not need restoration at a Divine Tower.
